I am impressed with your essay. And especially impressed in that you challenge the validity of Bible Worship. While the Bible is where I got my instructions for the Christian life, it is not an icon in my home nor an object of worship. “I am the Word, the Truth and the Life” doesn’t say that Jesus is the Gutenberg press’ edition. Nor does it narrow the opportunity for those who were born human beings without language to have become believers in the Creator of the earth! That the early humans realized they were not perfect is, to me, obvious simply by virtue of human beings’ stumbling around learning how to walk!
I will save and read this again. You present an important distinction between personal faith and ritual religious practice.
Thanks.
