I think this is a stretch. People have been catagorized in myriad ways. Tall, short, smart, stupid, and when it comes to skin color, yes, agree that 'white' is the proper way to describe color, just as black, brown, beige, etc. But when one wants to describe a white skinned person genetically connected to the Caucasus it is fine to call them Caucasian. If you are talking about color, If you are white and not genetically connected to the Caucasus, you can skip checking that category because it doesn't apply to you. You can check "other" if there is no category called white.
